Anna was admitted to the German Bar in 1992 and has practiced before all courts of first and second instance throughout Germany. Before deciding to focus on Afghanistan, she gained a vast range of experience in negotiating and drafting complex contracts and international agreements for her clients. Her field of expertise covers litigation and non-litigation matters, Alternative Dispute Resolution (mediation), construction, international trade, insurance (property), development & research contracts, and private public partnership. She also has been involved in lobbying activities (Association of Real Estate Owners) in addition to working as an in-house and freelance counsel for a federal governmental body in Germany.
Anna recently spent six years in Afghanistan serving as the Rule of Law Advisor in Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif for a European Union program. Prior to this position, she was a lecturer at a University of Applied Sciences (Civil Law, Commercial & Corporate Law, Insurance Law, EU Law). She has been honored with an award bestowed upon her by the European High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
It is Anna’s belief that by helping to improve the legal system, Kakar Advocates can contribute to sustainable economic development in Afghanistan, while enhancing and strengthening the livelihood and future prospects of the local population.
